Ali Zülfikar was born in 1971 in Milelis, Turkey. He studied at Firat University in Elazig under the renowned Turkish painter, Professor Memduh Kuzay.
Zülfikar’s works have been admired by art lovers around the world for many years. To date, his paintings have been presented in approximately 170 international solo and group exhibitions, as well as in numerous museums.
His distinctive artistic style is defined by large-scale, highly detailed portrait paintings on canvas and handmade paper. A unique feature of his work is the use of traditional Turkish, plant-based wool pigments—an innovative technique developed by the artist himself, the exact nature of which remains something of a mystery. His exceptional observational skill is translated onto the surface with remarkable precision, each line drawn with a surgeon-like accuracy.
Zülfikar achieves one of the highest aims of portrait art: not only to depict physical likeness, but to reveal the inner life and soul of the subject. His portraits of elderly people, often rendered in earthy tones, are particularly striking, conveying a powerful sense of depth and emotional intensity.
